You fell in love with the used Corona Premio at the local car lot and you cannot wait to get it home.  Once you do you are faced with one small dilemma: how do you get someone else’s personalizations off of your car?  Bumper stickers, window tinting, and pinstripes are all reminders of someone else who owned the car.  You could just cover the bumper stickers up with well more bumper stickers, but that really does not work for you.  Instead, there are ways of getting these personalizations off your car.

Bumper stickers are actually the easiest items to remove from the bumper of your used Caldina Wagon or other family car that you picked up.  You might actually be able to peel the sticker off of the bumper on a very warm, sunny day.  Grab a corner and slowly, tediously, pull the sticker free.  If the sun does not want to cooperate, you can use a heat gun or hairdryer to warm the glue on the sticker.  The older the sticker the slower you will have to go and you may have to keep the bumper sticker tight as you pull it away to keep it from ripping.  You can use a solvent to remove the sticker, such as Goo Gone and other citrus based cleaners.  These will not harm any underlying paint.  If they do not work, move to a stronger solvent.

Pinstripes are a little trickier to remove as they can be painted on the cheap Mitsubishi or taped on.  The tape variety of pin striping can be removed using the same method as the bumper sticker.  You can also try scraping them off with a credit card which is less harsh on your paint than other scraping tools.  Any residual glue can be removed using Goo Gone.  If the pinstripes are painted on Toyota Crown you will have to repaint the car to remove them.

Finally, window tinting can be removed with a simple razor blade although the process is tedious.  It is best to start with the side windows and work your way around.  Do not use a razor blade on any windows that have defroster lines in them however, as the blade can damage the line.  Instead, spray your back window with water and then place a plastic bag over the window.  Spray a mixture of ammonia and water onto the plastic until it adheres the plastic bag to the tinting film.  Let this sit for about a half hour and then peel the plastic bag away.  It should take the tinting with it.  Any residual tint can be removed with a soft cloth and more ammonia or even Goo Gone.
